Girls Incorporated of Lynn stands in celebration with our girls, staff and supporters as we are recognized for many accomplishments in our efforts to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold.

The following is a selection of awards that we have received throughout recent years:

2015

Cummings Foundation $100k for 100

The Cummings Foundation, Inc. (CFI), is a private operating foundation based in Woburn, Massachusetts. Since its establishment in 1986, it has been funded primarily by Joyce and Bill Cummings of Winchester, MA. Cummings Foundation has grown to become one of the largest charitable foundations in New England, with just more than $1.2 billion in net assets as of December 2013.  18312178090_cf499cfa7f_z

On May 2015, Girls Incorporated of Lynn was selected as one of 100 local nonprofits to receive grants of $100,000 each through Cummings Foundation’s “$100K for 100” program. The Grant will help fund Girls Inc. of Lynn’s Teen Health Ambassadors program, which focuses on educating teens about topics such as HIV/AIDs, STDs and pregnancy prevention, healthy relationships, body image, and nutrition.

The Boston Club Advancement Award

The Boston Club is one the largest communities of women executive and professional leaders in the Northeast.  Their mission is to  impel the advancement of women to top leadership positions. The Boston Club honors one or more community-based 501(c)3 Organizations working to improve the lives of girls and women each year.

Girls Inc. of Lynn’s new program Media Girls was honored the Boston Club Advancement Award of 2015. Media Girls is an internet safety and design program that Girls Inc. of Lynn will introduce in the summer of 2015. The program curriculum will cover internet safety topics including sexting, cyberbullying, social networking, use of privacy settings, online predators and warning signs; while also teaching them how to use technology to create powerful, custom, positive web pages.

Girls Inc.’s Outstanding Affiliate of the year: Excellence in Action

Each year, Girls Incorporated National designates 3 Outstanding Affiliate Awards, from 3 different budget categories, chosen by a panel of judges from applications submitted by 84 affiliates from across the country and Canada.

Girls Inc. of Lynn was presented with the 2015 Outstanding Affiliate Award on April 20, 2015 at the Girls Inc. National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. The list of considerations to win the award was extensive. Girls Inc. of Lynn met and exceeded all considerations, some of which include: growth in the number of girls served with impact, increase in revenues raised, increase in total service hours to girls, and tracking and reporting meaningful outcomes from services.

Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Energy and Environmental Education

Girls Inc. of Lynn’s Beach Sisters Program has been selected to be recognized with a Secretary’s Award for Excellence, this spring. The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) in collaboration with the Secretary’s Advisory Group on Energy and Environmental Education (SAGEE) and the Massachusetts Environmental Trust (MET) conducts an annual award program to recognize schools and educational programs (K-12 ) across the Commonwealth for their outstanding efforts in furthering energy and environmental education initiatives at their facilities.

2014

Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce’s Multicultural Business Leadership Award

Through its Business Excellence Awards, the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce honors its members and community leaders for their outstanding business practices, success, philanthropy, volunteerism and longevity. The Multicultural Business Leadership Award was presented to Girls Inc. of Lynn, for promoting the cultural and economic interests of Lynn’s diverse community and perpetuating an environment of inclusion.

 

2013

United Way Community Partner of the Year

United Way of Massachusetts Bay & Merrimack Valley honored a select group of local businesses, community agencies, and volunteers for outstanding contributions to their community; celebrating those who have gone above and beyond to support United Way’s work. Girls Inc. of Lynn has been a long-time agency partner of United Way, but was recognized in 2014 for being a “rock-star” partner and working tirelessly to advance the shared commitment to the Lynn community. Girls Inc. of Lynn was recognized for  embracing the idea of collective impact through the willingness to work together with United Way, in any area that makes sense for the greater good for both organizations and the community of Lynn.

 

2012

City of Lynn Accomplishments Recognition

Girls Inc. of Lynn’s Part of the Solution Youth Council was acknowledged by the City of Lynn City Council in recognition of their dedication and hard work in developing young minds and programs for the youth of the City of Lynn.
