Notes from Executive Director: Happy Mentoring Month!

Happy New Year & Happy National Mentoring Month!

At Girls Inc. of Lynn, I have come to know a group of truly dedicated staff and volunteers that realize that trusting, mentoring relationships are essential to helping girls reach their potential. As part of the Six Essential Elements of the Girls Inc. Experience, we provide several specific mentoring programs at Girls Inc. of Lynn.

Our College Mentoring Program offers juniors and seniors in high school, the opportunity to work with a mentor to guide them through the college application process, including scholarship submissions and financial aid applications. As a result of supportive, mentoring relationships, more than 98% of our teens move on to college each year.

Mentoring in our School Age Child Care and Middle School programs is framed a little differently. They consist of weekly meetings on a 1:4 mentor- mentee ratio, with the goal of helping girls feel empowered and valued through developing trusting relationships with adults. These relationships have helped all our girls become confident, goal-oriented and ambitious to follow their dreams.

We are grateful for our supporters, volunteers and Mentoring Coordinators who make mentoring possible at Girls Inc. of Lynn. The presence of a mentor ensures our girls, that with someone in her corner, there is no limit to where her goals can take her.

Thank you for being in her corner.
