Mi Vida, Mi Viaje (My Life, My Journey) utilizes the science-based ‘California Adolescent Sibling Pregnancy Prevention Program’ model, which is targeted towards girls grades 6-12 who have either an older sibling that is or was a teen parent, or a parent who was under 24 years of age when they were born.
Program Focus
The central focus of the model is providing individual case management throughout the middle school and high school years with linkage to a broad range of services and programs in the community.Girls meet monthly with a caseworker to assess needs and update goals that address sexual activity, emotional and health needs, after school activities, academic support and parent communication.
Because parent communication and involvement is critical to a youth’s well being, individual family meetings are held quarterly, and parent/daughter workshops are offered to foster family unity.
